Application of Scientific Methodology in Spiritual Development

Science is an understanding of matter, whereas spiritualism is related to the consciousness of the soul. Usually we analyze them as separate entities, whereas in reality, they are indeed inter-dependent and inalienable parts of each other. Though most of the religions lead to the spiritual development it was Buddha some 2500 years ago  clearly indicated the ‘Mind-and-Body’ (Nama_Rupa) mentality and corporeality conditioned by sixfold sense-based Consciousness. In science, originated in the west, the concept on existence of Mind as a separate entity different from the Body was first put forwarded by French philosopher and a physician R. Descartes (1556-1650). I

n 1860 Gustave Feschner published Elements of Psychophysics’ in which he outlined his experimental method of measuring the relationship between the physical stimulus and the sensory experience. This was one major milestone that led to what is now known as field of Psychology.
