A New Translation from the Pali Canon.
The Sutta-Nipata contains some of the oldest discourses in the Pali Canon. It is a rich source of texts offering guidance to lay Buddhists and also abounds in suttas that extol the contemplative ideals of early Buddhism.
Though the Sutta-Nipata as a collection exists only in the Theravada tradition, some of the individual suttas are found in other traditions.

This booklet aims to assist new Buddhist students who are unfamiliar with some of the Pali words often used in the study of Buddhism.
As the title of the booklet suggests, we encourage the learning and use of Pali words by learning one word each day.The Booklet can serve serve as both a dictionary and a glossary of terms for your reference.
We select these basic Pali words as a foundation for a deeper understanding of the Buddha-Dhamma- further study and research into the Pali Ti-Pitaka is strongly recommended.

අගසව් පදවි පිරිනැමීම
අනෝමදස්සී බුදුරජානන් වහන්සේ පහල වි සිටි සමයේ සරද නම් උසස් භ්රාහ්මණ වංශයේ නැණවත් තරුණයෙක්. ත්රීවේදය පරතරට ඉගෙන ගෙන මේ ජිවිතය ගැන ණුවනින් කල්පනා කර ගිහිගෙයින් නික්මී තවුස් පැවිද්දෙන් පැවිදි වී ධ්යාන ලබා ගත් අතර එතුමා අනුව යමින් තවත් 74,000ක් දෙනා ධ්යාන ලබා එතුමා ආචාර්යවරයා වශයෙන් ආශ්රය කරමින් සිටින අතරේ, අනවමදර්ශි භාග්යවතුන් වහන්සේ මෙම 74,000 ම නිවන් අවබොධ කරන බවත් මෙම සරද තාපසයන් වහන්සේත් උසස් ප්රාර්ථනයක් කරන් බව දිවැසින් දැන මෙම ස්ථානයට වැඩම කල සේක.
පසුව බුදුරජානන් වහන්සේගේ අධිෂ්ඨාන බලයෙන් අගසුව් දෙනම සහිත ලක්ෂයක් මහරහතන් වහන්සේලා එම ස්ථානයට ඉර්ධියෙන් වැඩම කොට සරද තවුසානන් ඇතුළු 74,000 පිරිස විසින් සම්පාදනය කරන ලද මල් ආසන මත වැඩසිටිමින් බුද්ධප්රමුක මහරහන්තන් වහන්සේලා දින සතක් සමාපත්තියට සම වැදී සිටි අතරේ සරද තාපසයනන් වහන්සෙ මල් කුඩයක් මවාගෙන බුදුරජානන් වහන්සේගේ සිරස් තලයට ඉහලින් අල්ලාගෙන නොසෙල් වී මෙම දින සතම බුදුගුණ සිතින් කියවමින් සිට. සත් දින අවසානයේ බුදුරජානන් වහන්සේගේ විධානයෙන් අග්රශ්රාවක නිසභ මහරහත් වහන්සේගේ අනුමෝදනා දේශනාව අසා සිට මෙම සරද තාපසයාණන් වහන්සේ ද මතු බුදුරජාණන් වහන්සේ නමකගේ අගසව් වීමට ප්රාර්ථනා කරන ලදී. එතුමා ගෞතම නම් වූ ශාස්තෲන් වහන්සේගේ ධර්මය දායාදකොට බුද්ධපුත්ර නමින් ශාරීපුත්ර නම්වූ අග්ර ශ්රාවකයන් වහන්සේ ය…..
